Links to YouTube - Examples of Earth Movies

The following links provide examples of 'movies' which can be created based on a slide show with backing music.

Remember you need to include facts about the area of study as well as providing an appropriate background music.

P7A - World War 2 Presentations

The pupils were tasked with investigating an aspect of the home front. Working in pairs they looked at:
  • The Role of Women
  • Gas Masks and Blackouts
  • Air Raid Shelters
  • Evacuation
  • Rationing
To report back to the class on their findings the children used various methods, which included:
  • Acting out scenarios from the Second World War
  • Using animations created on video
  • Presenting via a news broadcast / 'weather 'forecast
  • Using music
  • Using audio created on garageband
  • Posters
  • Quizzes
  • Humour
This shows the class took a wide and diverse approach to this task. In many cases the pupils also supported their reporting back with a PowerPoint Presentation. These may be viewed by following the links below. Unfortunately, the functionality of Google Docs (where these files are hosted) does not present the 'fully' developed show, ie sounds and order of display are not shown.

Enjoy.

1940 Fact

77 evacuated children were killed when the ship City of Benares (which was evacuating them) was torpedoed.

Wednesday, 16 September 2009

I am learning about WW2. Here is some facts about WW2:

After the war, some children didn't return home until March !

When children were evacuated they had to bring more handkerchiefs than underwear!

Rationing

Great website for war information. For example 524 000 mothers and children under 5 were evacuated.
http://www.woodlands-junior.kent.sch.uk/Homework/war

Here is a picture of a car crashing in to a shop in the blackout. Did you know that more than 4000 people died in road accidents in the blackout than being bombed by Nazis.

Evacuation was an adventure for some but a nightmare for others.
Did you know over 1 million children got evacuated.Parents were given a list to pack for their child. Many children lived in big cities and had to move to the countryside.Evacuation began on the 1st of September 1939.there was major evacuation between 1939-1945 !
