Edible Art at Easter
During the last two weeks of the Spring term P7A were investigating and discovering information about the Easter story.
To help the pupils understanding it was important to tackle these lessons in a interactive modern way.
Some examples of the approach taken were:
Edible Art
To depict some of the important aspects of the Easter story and understand that Christ sacrificed himself through death and was then resurrected, the children created art using edible materials - the resurrection, they then had the pleasure of eating this art -its death. Pictures were taken through out the process, so that they could be reversed and made into a film to create the image of death & sacrifice (agreeing who would have the most yummy parts of the art) followed by its rebirth.
The source pictures may be viewed at:
http://picasaweb.google.com/buckstonep7a
The films are currently being made by the pupils from these source photos.
To Download the Pictures to iPhoto
Use the above link to access the pictures, go into the album you are interested in. On the right hand side of the screen there is a link called - 'RSS Feed' - do a 'Right Mouse Button' on this and select - 'Copy Link Location'.
Go into iphoto - Select File/Subscribe to Photocast...... In the popup screen, you need to enter the web link, the easiest way is to press 'Apple-V' (Ctrl-V on a PC), followed by 'Subscribe'.
(These helpful suggestions where taken from http://azlan.anilezfa.com/download-picasa-web-album-with-iphoto).
This will download the photos. You can edit them before importing to iMovie.
In iMovie you need:
- Add a title page
- Add a credits page
- Add music - sombre music for the death and joyous music for the resurrection.

P7A - Publish 'Structures of the Earth' work on the Web
From October until December 2009, P7a have been discovering about the Structures of the Earth.
To help support this learning, they have been working in groups to create volcanoes, earthquake resistant houses, movies, posters, podcasts, comic books, video and audio messages as well as composing their own music and songs.
Where possible the results of P7a fabulous work have been posted onto the Internet for others to enjoy. Use the links below to enjoy.
Movies about the Structure of the Earth
This is P7a premiere movie.
Structures of the Earth - Part 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ul6kYjBWd8
Structures of the Earth - Part 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gc1aNIoJ6NQ
(Note due to a maximum length of 10 minutes for a video in YouTube, the video has been divided into two sections).
The pupils created movies (via iMovie) based on the theme of Earthquakes and Volcanoes, (using pictures from Google Images, which we gratefully acknowledge) they then composed accompanying music in GarageBand. The final movies were then merged to create a class movie.
Exploding Volcanoes
The pupils const
ructed 3D volcano models for homework. The models were labelled to show the features of a volcano.
You can see some of our volcanoes at http://picasaweb.google.com/buckstonep7a/Public_volcanoes#
We really enjoyed exploding some of them on the last day of term in the snow.
Dynamic Earth Feedback
The pupils were very fortunate to be able to visit Dynamic Earth on the 25th Novem
ber. They greatly enjoyed the experience providing the opportunity to expand their knowledge about the Structures of the Earth in a fabulous learning environment. The children were tasked with finding different ways to feedback to Dynamic Earth about their visit, with a key focus on the information we wanted to feedb
ack. These photographs capture many of the ideas.
Feedback Podcast
A song of the pupils experience has been loaded at http://www.gcast.com/u/buckstonep7a/main.xml
You can subscribe to P7a Podcasts and have them automatically downloaded into iTunes. To do this.
1. - open iTunes
2. - select podcasts
3. - select 'Advanced/Subscribe to Podcast...' from the top menubar.
4. - paste the following url into the pop-up - http://www.gcast.com/u/buckstonep7a/main.xml

Auld Lang Syne - Lyrics
There are numerous versions of this well known song/peom.
Auld Lang Syne
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and days of Auld Lang Syne?
For Auld Lang Syne, my dear,
For Auld Lang Syne,
We'll tak' a cup o' kindness yet,
For Auld Lang Syne.
And there's a hand, my trusty fiere
And gie's a hand o' thine
We'll tak' a richt guid willy waught,
For Auld Lang Syne.
For Auld Lang Syne, my dear,
For Auld Lang Syne,
We'll tak' a cup o' kindness yet,
For Auld Lang Syne.
See point 5 on, which discusses the various words used.
